How can we help?

Quick answers for tracking habits, connecting Apple Health, and keeping your progress current.

Connect Apple Health

  1. Open Momentum and choose More.
  2. Select Apple Health, then tap Connect Apple Health.
  3. Turn on the categories you want Momentum to read and tap Allow.
  4. Return to Momentum and use Refresh Health Data if a value has not appeared yet.

Steps and exercise minutes

  1. A Steps habit shows both your 10,000-step goal and today’s actual total.
  2. An Exercise Minutes habit is complete at 30 minutes and still shows your full total.
  3. Apple Health can take a moment to combine readings from your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Sleep tracking

  1. Record sleep with Apple Watch or another app that saves Sleep Analysis to Apple Health.
  2. In Momentum, open More → Apple Health and allow Sleep, then tap Refresh Health Data.
  3. Open Progress → Activity Totals → Sleep to compare nights, averages, and longer-term trends.

Weight and blood pressure

  1. Weight can be entered manually or read from Apple Health after permission is granted.
  2. Blood pressure requires a systolic and diastolic reading saved in Apple Health.
  3. Momentum summarizes trends but does not diagnose readings or provide medical advice.

Challenges with friends

  1. Challenges are optional and invitation-only. Habits and goals never need an account.
  2. To host or join one, open Challenges and sign in with Apple.
  3. If a challenge reads from Apple Health, approve sharing for that challenge when asked — until you do, the group cannot see your progress.
  4. Open the challenge and use Refresh Shared Progress if someone's totals look out of date.

Delete your challenge account

  1. Open Challenges and tap the account button in the top bar.
  2. Choose Delete Challenge Account and confirm.
  3. This permanently removes your online profile, hosted challenges, memberships, messages, and shared progress.
  4. Habits and goals stored privately on your iPhone are not affected. To remove those, use the erase option in Momentum or delete the app.

Stop sharing Apple Health

  1. Open the challenge and revoke sharing from that challenge's page — this stops further sharing immediately.
  2. Change what Momentum can read at all in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.
  3. Raw Apple Health samples are never uploaded. Only a daily total you approved is shared, and only with that one challenge.

Report or block in a challenge

  1. Open the challenge and scroll to Encouragement notes.
  2. Touch and hold another participant's note.
  3. Choose Report Message to send it to the moderation queue, or Block to hide messages between you and that participant.
  4. Challenges are private and invitation-only. Messages are limited to 140 characters and payment solicitation is blocked.

Widgets

  1. Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen.
  2. Tap Edit, then Add Widget.
  3. Search for Momentum and choose a widget size.
  4. If the widget is blank, open Momentum once and then return to the Home Screen.
Common questions

A few helpful details.

Why does Health permission show fewer categories?

Apple protects your privacy by not revealing whether a specific read permission was denied. You can review access at any time in Health → your profile → Apps → Momentum.

Where is my information stored?

Momentum stores your personal habits, goals, and check-ins on your iPhone. If you use optional Challenges, the account, challenge, messages, and approved challenge progress described in the privacy policy are stored securely so invited participants can collaborate.

How do I start fresh?

Open More in Momentum and use the erase-data control. This removes the app's locally stored habits, goals, and history. Apple Health records remain controlled by Apple Health.

Why is a Health value not updating?

Confirm the value exists in Apple Health for today, check that Momentum has permission for that category, then reopen the app or use Refresh Health Data. Background updates are managed by iOS and cannot be guaranteed at an exact interval.
