Your data stays yours.

Momentum is designed for personal use on your iPhone. Your habits, goals, and health data stay on your device unless you choose to join a Challenge with people you invite.

Overview

Momentum does not require an account to track habits and goals. We do not sell personal information, use advertising, or include third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

One optional feature — Challenges — does use an account and a server, because a shared leaderboard cannot work without one. Everything else stays on your iPhone.

Data stored on your device

Habits, goals, milestones, check-ins, reminders, reading progress, preferences, and app insights are stored locally on your device. They remain there until you delete them, erase the app's data, or remove the app.

Local notifications and widgets use information already on your device to show reminders and progress. That information is not sent to us.

Apple Health data

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Momentum may request permission to read steps, walking and running distance, exercise minutes, body weight, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The app uses these values to update the goals and insights you selected.

Permission is always optional.

Apple Health only provides categories you approve. Momentum reads approved information on your device. Raw Health samples are never uploaded. The single exception is described underChallenges, where you may separately approve sharing one daily total with one challenge.

Momentum does not write health samples to Apple Health. Health information is never used for advertising or sold.

On-device planning and insights

Momentum includes a guided planning builder and progress coach. These features process the text you enter and your locally stored habit, goal, and progress information entirely on your iPhone.

No third-party AI sharing.

Momentum does not send planning descriptions, prompts, habits, goals, check-ins, progress, Apple Health data, or other personal information to OpenAI or any other third-party AI service.

If you choose the microphone button, Momentum requests microphone and speech-recognition permission and requires supported on-device speech recognition to turn your words into editable text. You can always type instead.

Challenges

Challenges let you compete or cooperate with people you invite. This is the only part of Momentum that uses an account and a server. If you never open Challenges, nothing in this section applies to you.

To host or join one you sign in with Apple. We receive the identifier Apple provides and the email address Apple chooses to share, which may be a private relay address. We never receive your Apple ID password.

While a challenge is running, the server stores:

  • the display name and, if you set one, the personal target you chose;
  • the challenge rules, dates, membership, and invitations;
  • your daily progress figure for that challenge and its calendar day;
  • messages and nudges you send to that challenge;
  • a record of any Challenges purchase, so the entitlement can be honoured.
Apple Health stays on your iPhone.

Raw Health samples are never uploaded. If a challenge is set to read from Apple Health, you are asked separately, for that one challenge, to approve sharing a single daily total. You can revoke that approval at any time, and doing so stops further sharing.

Challenges are invitation-only and never public. A participant can report a challenge message or block its sender from the message menu. Reports are retained so they can be reviewed, and blocking hides messages between the two participants. Your profile photo, if you set one, stays on your device and is not uploaded.

You can delete your challenge account from inside the app. Doing so permanently removes your online profile, hosted challenges, memberships, messages, and shared progress. Habits and goals stored privately on your iPhone are not affected.

Sharing with friends

When you use the Share feature, Momentum opens Apple's share sheet. You decide what to share, which app or person receives it, and whether to send it. We do not receive the shared content. The privacy practices of the service you select apply after you share.

Your choices and controls

  • Manage Health permissions in the Health app or iPhone Settings.
  • Turn reminders on or off inside Momentum or in iPhone Settings.
  • Export information using the app's export controls.
  • Use the erase option in Momentum to remove locally stored app data, or delete the app from your iPhone.
  • Delete your challenge account from the Challenges page to remove everything held on the server.
  • Revoke Apple Health sharing for a challenge at any time from that challenge's page.

Children

Momentum is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal information. Habit and goal tracking uses no account at all. Challenges requires signing in with Apple and is not intended for children under 13.

Medical and wellness disclaimer

Momentum is a personal habit and wellness tracking tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions, or replace care from a qualified health professional. Blood pressure and other health views summarize information you recorded or authorized from Apple Health. Seek professional guidance for medical questions or concerning readings.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app changes. The date above identifies the current version. For help or a privacy question, visit the Momentum support page or email brighamr@gmail.com.
